Light the South

Foxhills has recently been a part of the local art trail “Light the South” which is raising money for Southampton Children’s Hospital.

40 mini lighthouses have been given to schools in the Southampton area to design and paint, which will then be featured around the city this summer, along with 40 8ft lighthouses designed by professional artists. You will be able to follow a route through the city to tick off each one!

Children from around the schools submitted designs for our lighthouse and the final design was decided by the school art committee. They chose to combine two submissions from Peter in Elm class and Molly in Elder class. The children then spent last week decorating the lighthouse ready for its unveiling to the Federation today.

The lighthouse will go on display this summer as part of the “Light the South” trail and we will let you know where it will be if you want to track it down. Please send us photos of the children with the lighthouse if you manage to find it this summer and we will collect them together for the website! The lighthouse will return to us in the autumn and go on display in the school.
