Summer Reading Challenge

Summer Reading Challenges
With the summer holidays fast approaching, we would like to share some information about two exciting reading challenges that we hope your children will really enjoy!

Foxhills Reading Photo Competition
The first challenge is a reading photo competition! We are asking children to bring in photos of themselves reading a favourite or current book in the most exciting, interesting or unusual places they can find! This is an opportunity for creative thinking and it is also a chance for children to share books they love. Please hand in your competition entry photos to your class teacher by Wednesday 9th September. There will be a winner announced in each year group and a display will be made from all the photos.

‘Record Breakers’ Summer Reading Challenge 2015
As many of you already know, the Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year in the summer holidays. Children can sign up at their local library, with a challenge to read six books of their choice, collecting stickers along the way. This year it is the theme of ‘Record Breakers’. We recommend getting involved with this challenge at your local library as an excellent way of encouraging your child to develop their enjoyment of books and reading; they will be able to sign up from mid-July. All children who complete the challenge, and bring in their certificate in September, will be celebrated by having their picture on our website. More information – including a ‘book finder’ section – can be found on the charity’s website: http://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/.

We would very much hope you enjoy being creative and having fun with these summer challenges and we look forward to seeing those exciting reading pictures in the autumn term!
