Be Safe Day
Firstly, we would like to thank all parents for supporting their children with our Be Safe Day. The children looked fantastic!
Today (Thursday 19th October 2017), Foxhills Junior School held its first Be Safe Day. This was to increase awareness of how to keep safe online and also how to keep safe whilst travelling to school.
In the morning, the whole school joined each other in the hall for an assembly. Mr Williams discussed with the children how it is important to be seen whilst travelling to school, and also how important it is to be able to see. The key messages were:
- Wear bright or reflective clothing when travelling to school,
- Be careful when crossing the roads when wearing winter clothing (it can reduce your vision and hearing!)
Afterwards, Mrs Kealey reinforced the importance of remaining safe online. The children were able to share how the internet can be used as a really useful tool and how they can remain safe online. At Foxhills Junior School, we teach children that they need to be SMART online (please see children tab- internet safety).
During the day, each year group were given a different element of the SMART principle to discuss. They were presented with different scenarios and shared their ideas on how they can be SMART online, at home and at school.
