Year 6 Careers Day 2019
On Monday 14th January, the children in Year 6 took part in a special Careers Day. The aim of this day was for children to gain an appreciation of the different career pathways which exist for them.
Dressed to impress as if they were attending a job interview, the children started the day by carrying out a maths activity related to different careers. The children had to work out how much pay they would take home after deducting the correct amount of income tax, national insurance and pension contributions. After this, they enjoyed deciding how their monthly income should be spent, on both compulsory expenditures and optional extras. This activity led to some great discussion and even some frustration!
In the afternoon, the children had the opportunity to meet some parents and other friends of the school to discuss their various professions. This was a thoroughly informative and enjoyable experience and the children came away inspired. We would like to thank all those who gave up their afternoons to come in and educate our Year 6s.
